Transcription: The American, Dr. T. Cahill, was the inventor of the first electric typewriter. Unfortunately, the firm went bankrupt after constructing only 40 machines at a total cost of $3,925. Further development of the electric typewriter by International Business Machines, IBM, led to the first commercially successful marketing of it in the Today, in the modern office, the electronic typewriter has all but superseded the electric typewriter.
